Yoo Gwan-soon was born on December 16, 1902 (lunar November 17) in Yongdu-ri, Byeongcheon-myeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do (formerly Jiryeong-ri, Idong-myeon, Mokcheon-gun, Chungcheongnam-do). She was the second daughter among three sons and two daughters of Yoo Jung-kwon and Lee So-je.
